Spring greens

The greenest green outside the wall and the palest pink within it.

All of a sudden our field has nothing but deep green: grass and trees.
And yet, the tree we planted is showing signs of Autumn yellow already.

This field will be silaged next month. All the pretty wildflowers have meanwhile been cut down.

On the inside of the wall it is more colourful. I took a sample of the sweetest-scented flowers into the house.

  • Exochorda macrantha 'The Bride'
  • Primula veris
  • Lilac
  • Rosa 'Canary Bird'
  • Clematis montana

This is a gorgeous Clematis montana with the sweetest scent. A friend gave me a rooted cutting and I never wrote down the name.

Appleblossom is back after a year's gap.

So glad our tree will be fruiting again, after we lost half of it in a storm two years ago, leaving the entire tree lying on its side with its roots in the air, all that with a few hundredweight of full-grown apples on its branches. That was what brought it down in the first place: much too heavy for the tree to support. It took three men to prop it back up. Last year we harvested one apple - this year we will be drowning in applesauce :-)

Green is so encouraging but I have to wonder about your poor tree that isn't. :( The bouquet is just fabulous and your photos are great.

Your flower images are a delight! A bit different to see a tree guard in the middle of a field. To keep horses at bay?

Good morning joanna dear! You are lovely and supporting, I appreciate your comments! But I have a problem. I don't find any follow button in your blogs. How can I follow you? I'm afraid to loose the trace of you... Happy Friday!

I have to apologize, but my eyesight can't cope with yet more items on my dashboard. I have to keep my pages as clean and plain as possible. That is why I don't have followers.

@Tom: not horses but deer. I rather like the looks of the rusting gate - and that little tulip tree, which is nearest our wall, gives me a feature in the landscape pictures I take from the house.

Gorgeous, Joanna! I'm jealous of your lilac. I think we have the same clematis montana. The information card was still attached, but it just said clematis montana.

Gorgeous! Fabulous photos - I feel like I could dive into those blossoms - now wouldn't that be wonderful!

I dive into them daily while they last - there is such a huge expanse of them - even my wide angle lens isn't able to get it all in. And the scent is amazing.
